Dugout Club Donates $5K to Christmas Wish Program

The Illinois baseball team and Dugout Club took part in Friday's Mix 94.5 Christmas Wish event and donated $5,000 to help families and children in the area during the holiday season. The Illini continue to make an impact on children and families in the community, donating over $34,000 in the last five years to causes such as the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA), Roundhouse shelter for homeless and runaway children and teens, and Crisis Nursery.

Fighting Illini players and head coach Dan Hartleb attended Mix 94.5's event Friday morning at the Virginia Theatre, where they presented the radio station with the $5,000 check. Mix 94.5 aims to make the holiday season brighter for local families that may be having a tough time by presenting them "wishes," which are submitted on their website - http://mix945.com/2016/11/01/christmas-wish/.

The Dugout Club raised its $5,000 during the Honor and Serve Day game against Minnesota on May 1. Illinois wore special camo uniforms that were auctioned off after the game.

The Dugout Club is the official organization devoted to supporting the University of Illinois varsity baseball program. Membership and support is used to facilitate valuable activities and operations that enhance the quality of the Illini baseball experience. This season's Honor and Serve Day game will be May 7 against Maryland.

Orange and Blue World Series Starts Today!

The Fighting Illini will play a three-game series starting Monday, Sept. 26. The second and third game of the series will be Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1.

All games are free to the public.

Game 1 - Monday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m.
Game 2 - Friday, Sept. 30 (Time TBA)
Game 3 - Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m.

Honor and Serve Day 2016

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois baseball team will wear commemorative jerseys Sunday for Honor and Serve Day at Illinois Field. The Fighting Illini will take on Minnesota at 1 p.m. CT and the jerseys will be auctioned off after the game to benefit a local charity. 

Illinois (20-17, 6-6 Big Ten) drew 6,301 fans to Illinois Field last weekend, the fourth-best series total in program history. The Illini are in eighth place of the Big Ten, while Minnesota (25-11, 9-2 Big Ten) is at the top of the standings and ranked No. 24 in the nation.

The series also features Friday's game on BTN at 8 p.m. CT and Saturday's Kids' Club Day. Kids are invited to join the Fighting Illini baseball team for the national anthem and take a pregame tour of Illinois Field on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. To register, click here

Illinois Field is Calling You!!

The Illini are hosting 3 straight weekend homestands in April and May.  Saint Louis, Ohio State, and Minnesota will visit Champaign over the next 21 days, so make sure to get out to Illinois Field.  Tuesday April 12th, the Illini welcome ISU to Illinois Field, and next Tuesday the 19th, the Illini take on EIU in Mattoon.  April the 16th is COUNTRY DAY, so dust off those boots and get ready to scoot.  April 22nd is the BLEACHER BUM BBQ - featuring free food for early arrivals.  April 23rd is AS SEEN ON TV so get ready to see the stars at Illinois Field.  And the 24th is SUPER HERO day, so come dressed as your favorite superhero and cheer us on to victory.  Lots of great baseball to be had for FREE, so come on out and support the team.

The Dugout Club is the official organization devoted to supporting the University of Illinois varsity baseball program. Your membership and support is used to facilitate valuable activities and operations that enhance the quality of the Illini baseball experience. By joining the Dugout Club you can have a direct impact on the program while showing your support for Illini athletics. Members are rewarded by gaining access to premium content including interviews, photos, video, and face-to-face contact with the team and the coaching staff.

Making a Difference

All of the Illini sports programs need a little support to do great things. The Dugout Club makes a difference in the baseball program by coordinating fundraising events like the Hot Stove Banquet. The Dugout Club gave the funds that allowed the Illini to visit the Dominican Republic in late 2014. It also funds the Senior Dinner which recognizes the contributions of the Illini players who are departing the program. When the team makes a difference in the community, the Dugout Club is there to help with projects like the Food Drive for Harrisburg and Honor and Serve Day. In addition, funds from the Dugout Club were used in the near future to help put the finishing touches on the new Team Clubhouse.  Your membership makes a difference in the lives of the players and makes possible worthwhile initiatives that benefit others in the community.
